dancing and practicing in the Halloween season

Today I went to the final rehearsal for the performance our dance group with have at the Halloween parade this Wednesday. Though it has been a ridiculously busy time, I am glad I decided to join this Thriller group this year. In addition to counting as a fun, social, communal activity, it also builds my sense of mastery and my connection with my body-mind (and coordination). It counts as devoting energy to perhaps my favorite holiday for most or all of my life thus far - Halloween, Samhain, and the general vibes and themes of the time of year annually. AND it reminds me as I learn the dance an take part that as a preteen and early adolescent I LOVED learning coordinated dances with other kids to do together - Britney Spears, N*SYNC, (etc.). I still enjoy that stuff, so I'm building onto that part of me, and caressing that dear sweet young girl within me.

Lately I have also been spending some evenings before bedtime just freestyle dancing to Father John Misty's music. A lot of it is good hip-swingin', passionate music worth some of my good moves.

In a little less than one week, I will take the actual GRE. I've been practicing for it (the math portion) with a tutor. I think we've had four sessions so far.
